Vice Principal's Message
Dear Valley View Elementary Community:
I am both honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Vice Principal of Valley View. My name is Maulete Cardenas, and I am thrilled to join such a vibrant and dedicated school community.
As we embark on this new school year, my primary goal is to support our students, teachers, and families in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment. I firmly believe that education is a collaborative effort, and I am eager to work alongside each of you to ensure the best possible experience at Valley View.
I am a highly motivated educator with over twenty years of experience in elementary and middle school settings. I bring a passion for fostering academic excellence and a deep commitment to the well-being of every child. Under Ms. Withers’ leadership and guidance, our collective goal is to provide each child with what they need to support their learning, foster belonging, support social-emotional wellness, and accelerate their academic growth.
Before coming to Valley View, I served as the Literacy and English Language Development (ELD) Coordinator in the San Carlos School District. Prior to being a coordinator, I served as an Assistant Principal in the San Mateo-Foster City School District. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I previously served as an Instructional Coach, Program Resource Teacher, Reading Intervention Teacher, and an English Learner (EL) Specialist. I have supported teachers, staff, and students in structured English immersion (SEI), bilingual alternative (BA), and dual language immersion (DLI) programs. I am passionate about promoting and strengthening students’ literacy skills. I have always believed that our professional and moral responsibility is to ensure that all students develop the necessary literacy skills to succeed in life — regardless of where they come from, if they only speak English, are new to the country, are socioeconomically disadvantaged, or are people of color.

Me siento honrada y emocionada de presentarme como la nueva subdirectora de Valley View. Mi nombre es Maulete Cardenas y estoy encantada de unirme a una comunidad escolar tan vibrante y dedicada.
Al embarcarnos en este nuevo año escolar, mi objetivo principal es apoyar a nuestros estudiantes, maestros y familias en la creación de un entorno de aprendizaje enriquecedor y atractivo. Creo firmemente que la educación es un esfuerzo colaborativo y estoy ansiosa por trabajar junto con cada uno de ustedes para garantizar la mejor experiencia posible en Valley View.
Soy una educadora altamente motivada con más de veinte años de experiencia en entornos de escuela primaria y secundaria. Traigo una pasión por fomentar la excelencia académica y un profundo compromiso con el bienestar de cada niño. Bajo el liderazgo y la guía de la directora Withers, nuestro objetivo colectivo es brindar a cada niño lo que necesita para apoyar su aprendizaje, fomentar la pertenencia, apoyar el bienestar socioemocional y acelerar su crecimiento académico.
Antes de llegar a Valley View, trabajó como Coordinadora de Alfabetización y Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés (ELD) en el Distrito Escolar de San Carlos. Antes de ser coordinadora, trabajé como subdirectora en el Distrito Escolar de San Mateo-Foster City. Además de ser maestra de aula, anteriormente trabajé como entrenadora instructiva, maestra de recursos del programa, maestra de intervención de lectura y especialista en estudiantes de inglés (EL). He apoyado a maestros, personal y estudiantes en programas de inmersión estructurada en inglés (SEI), programas alternativos bilingües (BA) e inmersión en dos idiomas (DLI). Me apasiona promover y fortalecer las habilidades de alfabetización de los estudiantes. Siempre he creído que nuestra responsabilidad profesional y moral es asegurar que todos los estudiantes desarrollen las habilidades de alfabetización necesarias para tener éxito en la vida, independientemente de dónde vengan, si solo hablan inglés, si son nuevos en el país, si tienen desventajas socioeconómicas o si son personas de color.
